Punk rock started in the 70's as a offensive, irregular rebellion against common current of music charted by the number or sales. Rock ensambles alike Green Day, the Offspring, and Rancid helped bring punk back in the 90's . This time the blend of speedy, upfront rock with smooth pop melodies stayed on the TV. These days, so-called pop punk is a key piece of puzzle in the world of chart music. These ten albums are fine starting points to grasp pop punk.

1. blink-182 - Enema of the State

In blink-182's endless attempt to insult all adults in the locality, this record album showed a model dressed as an enema governess on the booklet. The punk pop on the record is teenage and catchy including the massive hit single “What's My Age Again.”

2. The Donnas - Spend the Night

Girls can play punk rock, too, and this record album is an abounding proof of that. The group modeled after the Ramones with each member taking the name Donna. Download Pressure to compare.

3. Good Charlotte - Young and the Hopeless

Good Charlotte got into the top ten of the pop album chart. It is full with tales of high school and problem mothers. The big hit track is “Girls & Boys.”

4. Green Day - American Idiot

After retreating from their mid-90's peak of popularity, Green Day faded from live performances to mix punk rock's first rock opera. Despite the fact that the American punk band was nervous about their fan's reaction to Jesus of Suburbia, it to be an American rock classic climbing several album chart and gaining a Grammy award for Best Rock Album of two thousand and four.

5. The Lemonheads - Ceiling Fan in My Spoon

The Lemonheads' lead singer Evan Griffith Dando is the one and only punk performer to become a true teenager hero. Along the way the rock band wrote down some breathtaking songs, too, including “Confetti”, “Download Paramore” and “Mrs. Robinson”.

6. The Offspring - Smash

Offspring a rock band from Garden Grove, California were one of the devoted punk renaissance bands from the mid-90's. Rather often their songs bordered on heavy rock and metal with guitar-and-drums-centered sound, but their very best music is true punk. “Come Out and Play” and “Self Esteem” are far beyond what is normal on this album.

7. Rancid - Avenues and Alleyways

Rancid sounds a lot like late 70's classic punk as the Clash. They also incorporate the of ska in almost all of their studio albums.

8. Simple Plan - Still Not Getting Any…

This group from Canada emerged in the public eye in 2002 with their album When I'm With You. This second record album is much better and covers the hit song “I'm Just a Kid.”

9. Sum 41 - Summer

The single “All She's Got” helped chuck this studio album into the pop top 100. Sum 41 introduce intelligent humor into many of their hits. Download Paramore to get a feeling of what we are talking about.

10. Weezer - Jamie (Blue Album)

Despite the fact that they are revered as grandfathers of the “emo” genre, Weezer's records are also true punk pop. “Undone - The Sweater Song” was their first popular song and then a video putting the band in a TV episode helped make “Buddy Holly” even more popular.
